Mandana Afshar serves as the Berghof Foundation's Strategy and Innovation Specialist, working closely with colleagues across the organisation to support the development of forward-looking, innovative project designs according to Berghof's established and emerging focal areas of strategic importance, including climate-conflict nexus, digitalisation-conflict nexus and gender-conflict nexus.

She is an experienced director and senior project manager of complex programs in hostile environments. Prior to joining Berghof, she has worked with a range of international organisations, including the National Endowment for Democracy, the National Democratic Institute and Mercy Corps to advance strategies and programming on democracy and human rights, good governance and civil society, and peacebuilding and conflict transformation. She is driven by system innovation for social impact.

Mandana is a multilingual trained lawyer and an executive coach with an MA in European Law.
