Kjell-Åke Nordquist is Professor of International Relations at University College Stockholm, with a focus on peacebuilding and human rights. He has a background as peace researcher, including as Head of the Department of Peace and Conflict Research, Uppsala University, Sweden, and has worked on the theory and practice of mediation and conflict resolution, both as a researcher and practitioner.

Nordquist has facilitated peace processes in Colombia, the Middle East and Timor-Leste, among other places. His most recent work relates to the content and application of “reconciliation” in a political context, such as in peace negotiations or truth commissions’ work.
