The Berghof Approach: Practice

We engage in hands-on, on-the-ground activities which support conflict transformation in specific countries and regions.

Most of our staff work on projects to advance conflict transformation in specific countries or regions on four continents. Divided in seven regional units, they jointly form the Regional Peace Support department and use its infrastructure to share and learn from each other’s practical experiences across geographical boundaries.

Where we decide to engage, we do not seek quick results, but make a long-term commitment even in case of set-backs. Our experience in the Caucasus, where we have been active for more than 20 years, is an example how a continuous presence builds trust and an expanding network creates opportunity for an ever-deeper engagement with local partners.

In Somalia and Yemen, initial pilot activities have grown over the years into an integrated web of projects in different sub-regions or working on different tracks, creating important synergies at all levels.
