Barbara Unger is Senior Advisor for the Regional Peace Support Unit at the Berghof Foundation and advises the Global Learning Hub for Transitional Justice and Reconciliation. Previously, she coordinated the Latin America work at the foundation. Before, she was the Deputy Director of one of the foundation's predecessors, Berghof Peace Support. Contributing to conflict transformation through better process design and reflective learning is one of her main interests. Before joining Berghof, Barbara was a freelance advisor and a trainer for peace and conflict, a coordinator of the zivik project 2002-2004, and she previously worked with German Development Cooperation.
Barbara holds a BA and MA equivalent in Political Science, a BA in Latin American Studies from the Free University of Berlin, and a post-graduate certificate with the German Development Institute. In 2014, she completed training as an organisational consultant. She is a long-term activist and a member of Peace Brigades International, a member of the German Platform for Conflict Management, and was a board member of the Forum Ziviler Friedensdienst.

Barbara Unger ist Senior Advisor für das Referat Regionale Friedensförderung bei der Berghof Foundation und berät den Global Learning Hub for Transitional Justice and Reconciliation. Davor war sie für die Lateinamerikaarbeit der Berghof Foundation verantwortlich, und vorher stellvertretende Direktorin bei Berghof Peace Support, einer Vorgängerorganisation der heutigen Foundation. Eines ihrer Hauptinteressen ist es, durch besseres Prozessdesign und reflexives Lernen zu Konflikttransformation beizutragen. Vor ihrer Tätigkeit für Berghof war Barbara Unger als freie Gutachterin und Trainerin tätig, koordinierte das Projekt zivik beim Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen und war zuvor im entwicklungspolitischen Bereich angestellt.
Barbara Unger ist Diplompolitologin und hat Lateinamerikanistik an der Freien Universität Berlin studiert sowie ein Postgraduiertenstudium beim Deutschen Institut für Entwicklungspolitik, DIE, absolviert. 2014 beendete sie eine Ausbildung zur Organisationsberaterin. Sie ist Mitglied bei Peace Brigades International sowie der Plattform für Konfliktbearbeitung und war im Vorstand des forumZFD.

Barbara Unger es Asesora Senior de la Unidad Regional de Apoyo a la Paz de la Fundación Berghof y asesora al Centro Global de Aprendizaje para la Justicia Transicional y la Reconciliación. Anteriormente, coordinó el trabajo de la Fundación en América Latina, y antes de eso fue Directora Adjunta de uno de los predecesores de la Fundación, Berghof Peace Support. Uno de sus principales intereses es contribuir a la transformación de conflictos mediante un mejor diseño de los procesos. Antes de unirse a Berghof, Barbara fue consultora independiente, capacitadora para paz y conflicto y coordinadora del proyecto zivik 2002–2004. Además, ha trabajado con la cooperación alemana al desarrollo.
Barbara es diplomada de Ciencias Políticas, estudió Estudios Latinoamericanos en la Universidad Libre de Berlín, y tiene un certificado de posgrado por el Instituto Alemán de Desarrollo (DIE). En 2014, completó su formación como consultora organizacional. Ella es activista y miembro de Brigadas de Paz Internacionales, de la Plataforma Alemana para la Gestión de Conflictos, y del ForumZFD (Foro Servicio Civil para la Paz).
