Calum Humphreys is a Project Manager in the Sub-Saharan Africa Unit at the Berghof Foundation, where he has supported various dialogue efforts in Ethiopia since 2025. Calum previously served as Gulf Focal Point in the Yemen Unit, where he led on organisation-wide engagement with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states. During his time at the Berghof Foundation, Calum has specialised in dialogue support and has principally worked on regional, national, and local dialogue processes in Ethiopia, Yemen, the Gulf and the wider Middle East.
Before joining the Berghof Foundation, Calum worked as a Project Officer at the Candid Foundation supporting creative dialogue and cross-cultural exchange projects in Libya and in other Middle Eastern contexts. He has studied and worked in Egypt, interning at the Arab West Foundation in Cairo, an organisation promoting intercultural dialogue and understanding. Calum has also been deployed in South East Asia, most recently with the European Union in the Philippines.
Calum holds a Certificate in Advanced Studies (CAS) in Peace Mediation & Dialogue from the University of Basel, an MPhil in Modern Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Oxford, with a focus on modern Egyptian socio-political history and social movements, and a BA (Hons) in Spanish & Arabic from the University of Exeter.
