Beatrix Austin is Head of Department Conflict Transformation Research, of which she was interim director from April to October 2019. She manages various work strands, among which the Berghof Handbook for Conflict Transformation is the longest running flagship publication project. As a researcher, her interests focus on issues of dealing with the past and reconciliation as well as on linking theory and practice in conflict transformation. As a scholar practitioner, she specializes in dialogue facilitation and accompanying transformative learning and reflection processes.
Prior to her work with Berghof Foundation, she worked for Search for Common Ground and International Alert, among others. She is a founding member of the Vienna Conflict Management Partners and a member of the training team of the Vienna School of Negotiation. Beatrix graduated with an MPA from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and holds a diploma in Political Science/International Relations from the Free University in Berlin.

Beatrix Austin leitet seit 2020 die Abteilung Conflict Transformation Research (Konflikttransformationsforschung) bei der Berghof Foundation. Sie ist langjähriges Mitglied des Teams Conflict Transformation Research und war von April bis Oktober 2019 dessen Interim Leiterin. Sie betreut vielfältige Arbeitsbereiche, darunter die Mitherausgabe und Koordinatorin des seit 1998 bestehenden Berghof Handbook for Conflict Transformation. Als Forscherin interessiert sie sich besonders für Themen der Vergangenheitsarbeit und Versöhnung und für die Verknüpfung von Theorie und Praxis in der Konflikttransformation. Als Praktikerin übt sie sich in der Fazilitation von Dialogen und der Begleitung von transformativen Lern- und Reflektionsprozessen.
Beatrix Austin war in der Vergangenheit unter anderem für Search for Common Ground in den USA und International Alert in Großbritannien tätig. Sie ist Gründungsmitglied von Vienna Conflict Management Partners und gehört dem Trainerpool der Wiener Schule für Verhandlungsführung an. Sie ist Absolventin der Kennedy School of Government an der Harvard Universität (Master of Public Administration) und der Freien Universität Berlin (Diplompolitologin).
