International Day of Peace 2026: Building peace from the ground up
Join our event for International Day of Peace to hear from peacebuilders about their day-to-day efforts in building lasting peace.
Peace is not achieved through a single agreement. It is built over time through the incremental efforts of peacebuilders that often remain invisible. To mark this year’s International Day of Peace, we will shed light on the vital work of peacebuilders who lay the foundations for lasting peace.
The event will bring together policymakers and practitioners to explore what it takes to build sustainable peace before, during, and after formal agreements. Drawing on experiences from Catalonia and Uganda among others, our speakers will share their stories on rebuilding trust where it has been eroded and on maintaining political and diplomatic momentum when progress is slow and setbacks are inevitable. They will highlight challenges and opportunities they encoutered along the way. The event will also explore how the international community can recognise and invest more effectively in the everyday work required to turn peace agreements into lasting peace.
Join us to hear from those working at the forefront of peacebuilding and learn how they enable societies to move from conflict to stability, reconciliation, and lasting peace.
