The web portal offers comprehensive information and resources on disinformation and conspiracy theories for interested audiences, affected individuals, and multipliers in Hesse and across Germany.

Timeframe: 2025 - 2029

Rapid developments in artificial intelligence and the dynamics of social media are accelerating the spread of conspiracy theories and disinformation across the internet, affecting all areas of society. This trend can fuel conflicts in both private and professional settings, undermine trust in information, media and institutions, contribute to social fragmentation, and intensify emotionally charged debates.

The web portal “Spurenlesen – a web portal for countering conspiracy narratives and fostering critical thinking”, currently under development, aims to offer affected individuals, civil society actors, multipliers, educators, and the wider public accessible information and, where needed, pathways to support.

Users can test their knowledge of conspiracy theories and disinformation through an interactive self-test and deepen it with a wide range of engaging multimedia resources, including articles, explainer videos, podcasts, infographics, and more. Individuals seeking help will be directed to appropriate counseling services in Hesse and across Germany. A database of educational materials provides multipliers with a broad selection of information, resources, educational materials, an overview of training opportunities, and educational programmes offered by providers in Hesse (and nationwide).

Through this approach, the “Spurenlesen” website seeks to consolidated comprehensive information, references, and materials on conspiracy narratives and disinformation, create a digital space for networking and exchange, raise awareness about the topic, and ultimately contribute to strengthening democratic resilience.
