Through the discussion of individual memories about the conflict escalation we are laying the ground for a deep and empathetic conciliation process between the different ethnic sections within Bosnia.

Timeframe: 2018 - 2021

Adapting our approach of dialogue based on history and memory applied in the Caucasus the Berghof Foundation is working in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Also in this project we apply listening and discussing biographical interview episodes on conflict, recent war(s), violence and forced migration. With these individual stories we aim to overcome the silence and create a constructive space for reflection and dialogue between the different constituencies.

All three major communities – Bosniak, Bosnian Croat and Bosnian Serb – in Bosnia and Herzegovina are engaged in the project.

Over a period of two years our partners and local teams have been conducting biographical interviews and discussion workshops and we could expand our teams step by step to cover an increasing number of towns and communities.

This project is conducted in cooperation with the Center for Peacebuilding in Sanski Most (CIM).
