Nazanine leads efforts to integrate climate and environmental considerations across Berghof’s conflict transformation and peacebuilding work, including dialogue and mediation initiatives at national and regional levels. She also leads Berghof’s contribution to an EU-funded programme advancing greater alignment between climate adaptation and peacebuilding in fragile and conflict-affected settings.

Nazanine is the host of Climate, Crisis and Courage, a podcast produced with the UN Climate Security Mechanism that explores how communities affected by conflict are responding to the climate crisis.

Before joining the Berghof Foundation, Nazanine was a Senior Climate, Environment and Conflict Analyst at the International Crisis Group, where she led research, policy engagement and media work on responding to climate and environmental risks in conflict-affected settings.

Nazanine previously worked for two decades as an international journalist, including at Reuters, Independent Television News and Al Jazeera English. She also served as an expert on the United Nations Panel of Experts on Somalia.
