Nanor Bitar completed an LL.M in Humanitarian Law and Human Rights from the Germany-based Europa-Universität Viadrina, focusing on private military contractors such as the Wagner Group and their war crimes in Syria, Libya, and Ukraine. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Affairs from the Lebanon-based Lebanese American University. She has previously interned for Human Rights Watch focusing on Lebanon, and later worked for Crisis Action in the capacity of campaigning and advocacy for civilian protection in Syria and Israel Palestine. Prior to joining Berghof Foundation, Nanor held an investigative researcher role in business intelligence in Berlin for Control Risks. Nanor speaks fluent Arabic, English, Armenian, and is currently learning German.
